Be Still

Oct 11, 2024

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10

Our culture is loud, brash, busy, frantic. We seek faster and faster ways to communicate with people – many of whom we never see or care to know. We buy bigger and bigger speakers and screens to play the music and television programs and videos that we spend out time and work amassing – so that we can somehow attempt to drown out the noise already in our heads.

Be still.

Be still.

Be still.

It is terribly difficult, isn’t it? Our minds spin, the thoughts bounce all over, our fingers wiggle and our bodies won’t sit still. But isn’t most of that activity the result of worry and fret?

God says, You’re not God – I am. You don’t have to fix everything. You do’t have to make it okay. Let me do that for you.

What an incredible relief it would be if we could just remember that thought even for a moment. Will you be still today, and let God be God? It may mean saying “no” to some of the noisy things within us and around us.
